Headstream

Stripe (beta)

Updated 2026-11-02

What it does

Connecting Stripe puts your charges, refunds and disputes in an append-only ledger. Headstream then credits that money to the visits that led to it. See revenue attribution.

Connecting Stripe is in beta.

Setup

  1. Install the script first, so there are visits to credit.
  2. In the dashboard, open Project, then find the Stripe card.
  3. Click Connect Stripe with read-only access. You need to be able to manage the project.
  4. Approve the connection in Stripe.
  5. Wait for the card to change from "Importing history" to "History imported."

Headstream asks for Stripe's read_only scope, so it can't change anything in your account. Each Stripe account can connect to one project. If your marketing site and app share a Stripe account, add both domains to the same project.

After you connect

New payments arrive by webhook. Attribution runs every hour and publishes only if the credits equal the ledger. So a new payment shows up in channel reports after the next run.

To see who paid and link them to visits, Headstream matches each charge to a person. The order is Stripe customer ID, then a headstream_visitor value in the charge metadata, then billing email. Calling identify at signup makes those matches work. Payments with no match show as unattributed revenue.

Limits

  • Payments in other currencies are reported separately. They aren't converted.
  • Headstream reports money collected, and it doesn't calculate MRR.
