Plausible is privacy-first website analytics with open code. It credits revenue to the visit where payment happens, by design. Headstream follows a person across visits and payments, which is the opposite design choice.

Pricing
Headstream is free for 10,000 events a month, $99 for 250,000 and $299 for 1 million, pooled across unlimited sites. Plausible's Business plan, which includes funnels and revenue, is $99 for 500,000 monthly pageviews and events, and $139 for 1 million. Its Starter plan begins at $9 for 10,000.
Where Plausible is the better pick
If you want privacy-first stats, code you can inspect and the option to self-host, choose Plausible. Not tracking people across visits is a deliberate choice, and for some teams it's the whole point.
When to choose Headstream
- Your first visit and your payment happen on different days.
- You have subscriptions, so refunds and renewals need to trace back to people.
- You want to compare attribution models on the same revenue.
Moving from Plausible
Run both while you compare. Add the Headstream script next to your current tag and run both for a few weeks. You can compare totals before you remove anything. Your agent can do the install from agent.md.
